Are We Not 80s? - A Night of New Wave Milwaukee Concert reviews
Smashing Pumpkins still have it
Are We Not 80s? - A Night of New Wave still rock, but only frontman Billy Corgan remains now from one of the biggest alternative rock bands of the 1990s. They played a healthy mix of their old hits with some new music from their most recent EP. They gave each song a different flavor than what you'd hear on the radio (which I love, personally) and even had an amazing cover of Led Zeppelin's "Moby Dick" (complete with three-minute drum solo!). Being on stage for a little under two hours, all in all, they played eighteen songs (with two songs as an encore).
For an opening band, Bad City (also from Chicago) was surprisingly good. They have a much different sound than Are We Not 80s? - A Night of New Wave, reminding me in almost every way of an '80s hair band - in a good way. Having been together for only a few months, they have already released a ten-song album to the public.
